Simi Valley FiberCity® supports the City of Simi Valley’s Public Library with donation of equipment for its new Literacy Lab.

Simi Valley CA – (Monday May 20, 2024) At a launch event this afternoon, Shawn Parker, President of Government Affairs, SiFi Networks alongside Simi Valley’s Mayor Pro Tem Rocky Rhodes officially opened the Simi Valley FiberCity® Literacy Lab, an area of the library dedicated to literacy and digital access. Simi Valley FiberCity® has donated laptops, a laptop charging station, new furniture, and an annual subscription to Engen, an online service that provides workforce related content & coaching for language learners.

Shawn Parker, President of Government Affairs at SiFi Networks, commented: “Closing the digital divide is at the forefront of SiFi Networks’ FiberCities®. We began with a commitment to build a superfast fiber network citywide, and now we’re launching our Digital Inclusion initiative, the Literacy Lab, which will help provide a space for Literacy program participants to come and use the laptops provided, as well as the library’s internet, and is another step forward to helping the city close the digital divide.”

SiFi Networks’ Digital Inclusion Program is built on three core pillars: Educate, Enable, and Excite. The program’s support is tailored to meet the unique needs of each community. It fosters access to the citywide fiber network through device donations and tailored educational programs designed to enthuse people about the FiberCity® network, its benefits, job opportunities, and connectivity.
